A family from the village of Zasullia, Poltava region — about recovery, strength, and unforgettable changes after the Recovery Camp. Lyudmyla Babak's family is raising 13-year-old Denys — an open, sensitive boy who has Down syndrome. When they arrived at the Recovery Camp, Lyudmyla felt a whole sea of anticipation: positivity, adventure, recovery, and a desire to be filled with life.

The Camp Restored the Colors of Life

Before the camp, their daily life was filled with fatigue: grayness of days, anxiety, monotony, lack of communication, and constant thoughts about the problems and challenges that raising a special child brings every day. But the Recovery Camp brought completely different colors into their lives. Daily events — activities, creativity, competitions, new acquaintances, and an atmosphere of acceptance — worked as a healing environment.

“It brought goosebumps, and made my eyes wet…” — says the mother.

Unforgettable Moments

A special moment was the Anthem of Ukraine. For Lyudmyla, it was a breath of pride, a reminder of strength and resilience. And for Denys, the most emotional moment was the farewell: he hugged Viktoriia long and sincerely and cried — it was an important experience of love, support, and belonging.

“A calm mother means a calm family.”

Return and Plans

Upon returning home, Lyudmyla felt a second wind: she is motivated, emotionally stable, and ready to move forward. The advice of psychologists helped her understand herself better and learn to react more calmly. Now she wants to exercise more, take care of herself, travel with her family, and stay in touch with the mothers from the camp.
