In the Art of recovery project, we often observe how through simple things — a drawing, color, shared time — the sense of support gradually returns. Sometimes it's not about big changes, but about very quiet yet important moments that begin with safety and trust.

Today we want to share the story of our participants — Oksana and her five-year-old son Maksym. This is a story about a favorite toy that was with little Maksym even in the shelter, and about how through shared creativity one can feel closeness and warmth again.

Oksana came to the sessions with a clear request: to help her son calm down. Maksym was often anxious, held tightly to one and the same toy and wouldn't let it go even at home. For the mother, this was painful — she didn't always understand how to help.
